| A January 19th structure fire at 33 Jefferson Street in the Menlo Park Terrace section had tragic consequences. Hopelawn Ex-Chief Bruce Turcotte, who responded to the scene on Rescue 8 as part of the Rapid Intervention Crew, suffered a heart attack and died in the line of duty while operating on scene.
Bruce was the senior member of the Hopelawn Engine Company #1, having joined the fire company in 1974.
Bruce was also a life member of the Woodbridge Township Fire Officers Association and served as a Mutual Ad Coordinator for many years.
