District 9 and 11 was dispatched to 24 Melvin Avenue for a reported fire. Upon arrival Chief Bennett reported smoke showing from the front door. First due Engine 9-2 stretched an 1-3/4" handline and extinguished the fire with damage limited to the kitchen. EMS treated one occupant of the home.
