District 9 firefighters were dispatched to a reported dryer fire in the basement of a residence. Upon arrival Deputy Chief 9-0-2 established incident command, confirmed a heavy smoke condition & fire in the basement, and ensured all residents were safely evacuated. Engine 9-2 quickly arrived and deployed a hose line into the structure with Engine 9-5 hitting the hydrant to establish a water supply. Engine 9-6 and Ladder 9-2-4 along with mutual aid from Iselin District 11 and Colonia District 12 arrived to provide assistance. The Colonia First Aid Squad and the Woodbridge Police Department also responded to provide scene support. The fire was quickly extinguished and the smoke ventilated from the residence.
