| District 9 Firefighters were dispatched to a reported motorcycle fire and upon arrival Deputy Chief 9-0-2 discovered the battery itself was melting as a result of a runaway chemical reaction. Engine 9-2 and Cascade 9-3-4 arrived to secure the area and prepare to cool down the battery until Middlesex County HAZMAT arrived on scene. The Middlesex County HAZMAT Team arrived and with specialized training and equipment were able to safely stop the reaction and isolate the battery in a fireproof container. |
