District 9 was prepared during Winter Storm Fern with over 20 firefighters standing by at both fire stations. Crews were ready to respond staffing three fire engines, ladder truck, snow plow, and chief car.

During a break in emergency calls, Instructor Heitmeyer organized a training session focused on effective scene size up and proper radio communications to help make the most of the time on standby.
