| Iselin District 9 was dispatched to a condo complex for an activated carbon monoxide detector. Deputy Chief 9-0-2 established command and crews from Engine 9-2, Engine 9-5, and Truck 9-2-4 checked the condo with gas meters. Woodbridge Police Ambulance stood by to treat anyone experiencing carbon monoxide poisoning.
Upon finding concerning levels of carbon monoxide, Elizabethtown Gas and the Twp. Building Department were requested to secure a malfunctioning boiler. With freezing temperatures and the potential loss of heat, Woodbridge Emergency Management was also requested to support with logistical needs.
Thankfully the Carbon Monoxide detector did its job and was able to successfully warn everyone of the danger from this odorless gas and prevent anyone for being harmed. Iselin District 9 Fire Prevention Bureau reminds everyone to have a carbon monoxide detector in their home and be sure to check it regularly. |
